Arteta: I’m so proud of the team
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta insists his team are still in the hunt for a finish in the top four of the Premier League following their 2-2 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
The Gunners appeared to be heading home empty-handed after Cesar Azpilicueta scored in the 84th-minute to give the Blues a 2-1 lead.
But Hector Bellerin’s amazing finish just three minutes later saved a point for the visitors and Arteta was proud of the way his side fought, particularly given that they were down to 10 men from the 26th-minute onwards after David Luiz was red-carded.
“Time will tell but at least I saw a reaction and all I demand of them is do not give up and keep playing with the spirit,” said Arteta during a post-match interview with BT Sport.
“I’m so proud of the team, how they reacted, how they step up when a team-mate makes a mistake and that is what they did, all of them.
“I said to the team I want to see how you behave in this stadium, We are hoping to fight for the Champions League until the end.”
Arsenal are currently 10 points off Chelsea in fourth, with 15 games left to play in the Premier League this season.
