Ibra slams team following defeat
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has accused his AC Milan team-mates of lacking belief after they conceded four goals in the second half against Inter Milan in the Serie A.
The 38-year-old had helped his side to a two-goal lead at the San Siro after setting up Ante Rebic’s 40th minute opener and then bagging one for himself just seconds before the half-time whistle.
However, their advantage disappeared in the second half as Marcelo Brozovic and Matias Vecino drew Inter level before Stefan de Vrij and Romelu Lukaku sealed victory, leaving Ibrahimovic baffled as to what had happened to his team.
“It’s difficult to explain what happened,” said the visibly annoyed Swede in a post-match interview with Sky Sport Italia.
“At half-time we told ourselves the first 15 minutes going back out there will be crucial, and in that 15-minute spell we conceded two goals.
“We stopped playing, the team stopped believing, we stopped pressing, didn’t pass it around enough. From the equaliser onwards, everything collapsed.”
Meanwhile Inter’s victory over AC Milan leaves them at top of the Serie A table on goal difference above reigning champions Juventus.
