Iniesta stars as Vissel Kobe thrash JDT
Former Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta was in stunning form as he inspired Vissel Kobe to a 5-1 thrashing of Johor Darul Ta’zim in Group G of the AFC Champions League.
The 35-year-old World Cup winner assisted two goals and was instrumental throughout the one-sided encounter at the Misaki Park Stadium.
JDT’s solitary goal was scored from the penalty spot by Safawi Rasid following a handball by Iniesta’s former Barcelona teammate Thomas Vermaelen.
Iniesta, who joined the J-League club on a three-year deal almost two years ago, is chasing a third title with Vissel Kobe after helping them secure their maiden Emperor’s Cup triumph in January and first Japanese Super Cup just last weekend.
