Kim Swee offered new FAM role
The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) are reportedly set to offer Datuk Ong Kim Swee the role of Youth Development Director.
It was recently announced that the association will not be renewing Kim Swee’s contract as the Malaysia Under 22 (U-22) Head Coach following the squad’s poor showing at the SEA Games 2019 in Manila, Philippines this month.
But now, FAM General Secretary Stuart Ramalingam has confirmed that they are in the midst of offering the 49-year-old “a very different role”, one that will benefit the future of Malaysian football.
Stuart said that Kim Swee’s vast experience in the national setup makes him the perfect candidate for the Youth Development Director position and they are very thrilled to begin this new chapter.
Kim Swee has been with the FAM for 10 years and helped the Harimau Muda squad to a gold (2011) and silver (2017) medal at the SEA Games during his tenure as head coach.
