Pochettino has bizarre theory on why Hugo Lloris is injured
Hugo Lloris’ drink-driving conviction was the reason he sustained the thigh injury which has ruled him out for Tottenham Hotspur.
That is the bizarre explanation offered by Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino, who has claimed the stress involved in the case could be a factor in the setback Lloris suffered against Manchester United on August 27 – the first game played by the World Cup winning goalkeeper after news broke of his arrest.
Spurs’ fortunes have taken a significant downturn with captain Lloris out the side – with three consecutive 2-1 defeats against Watford, Liverpool and Inter Milan since the victory at Old Trafford.
The deputising Michel Vorm has also been criticised for some sub-standard displays between the posts.
And Pochettino says time on the sidelines is helping Lloris relax.
