Reds extend unbeaten run to 40 games
Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side continued their winning streak in the Premier League with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers this morning.
The game appeared to be heading for a draw after Raul Jimenez had equalised Jordan Henderson’s early opener, in the second half at the Molineux Stadium.
But the runaway league leaders bounced back and clinched their 22nd win through Roberto Firmino’s brilliant left-footed finish in the 84th minute.
Following the dramatic win, Liverpool captain Henderson told BT Sport: “You know it’s going to be difficult here as we’ve seen over the season. They’re a good team, they make you work.
“[It was an] intense game. We knew it’d be difficult but we knew to keep going, keep fighting. We defended really well, the big man and the back four were brilliant again, the keeper.
“We had some chances as well to put the game to bed, which I keep saying over the last couple of weeks, so that’s something that we want to improve on and kill the game off earlier.
“But [we] showed mentality again to keep going and finding that winning goal.”
Liverpool are currently 16 points clear of second-placed Manchester City, with a game in hand.
