5 ways to make your workout more efficient

1. Set a goal, have a plan
Before you even get to the gym, make sure you know why you’re doing it; why you’re working out. It can be a general goal like to lose weight or more specific goal like to achieve 10k steps in a day. Either way, having a goal is a good thing because according to a 2017 study published in Organizational Behaviour and Human Decision Processes, goals are important to help you feel motivated, confident and persistent.
2.Limit your workouts to 30-40 minutes max
How long you spend working out doesn’t affect the effectiveness of your workout. You can spend 8 hours long or it can be as short as 30 minutes, if you don’t do it right, it won’t matter. That’s why it’s important to have a proper plan that incorporates your fitness goals, so you can spend a reasonable amount of hours working towards your goals.
3.Mix it up
If you’re a cardio person, now maybe the best time for you to try out strength training and vice versa. If you continue doing the same thing all the time, you’ll stop seeing any changes to your body and feel demotivated. Spice things up by trying different kinds of workouts or classes at your gym.
4. Put the phone away
Ahh…It’s completely okay to use your phone to check your form, refer to a workout plan you’ve saved or even listen to your favourite playlist however it’s not okay to text or reply emails while working out.
This is one of the most important aspects of fitness. Prep your pre-gym and post-gym meals because you’re going to need it for recovery and energy. Don’t underestimate this factor if you want to achieve your fitness goals fast.
