Also known as a three-day military diet, it is a quick ‘solution’ for those who need to lose weight in a very short time. But you know what they say about fast results? It normally doesn’t last. However, in this instance, we should also look at whether this diet is even safe for you.
What is Military Diet
Military Diet basically is a three day diet program or longer with a very specific eating, or should we say very restrictive, plan. By following this diet, you can easily lose up to 5 to 10 kgs within a week or a month’s time.
What do you eat when you’re on the Military Diet?
Day One (1,400 calories)
Breakfast: one slice of toast with 2 tablespoons of peanut butter, half of a grapefruit, and black coffee or tea
Lunch: one slice of bread or toast, a half cup of tuna fish, and black coffee or tea
Dinner: 3 ounces of meat, one cup of green beans, half of a banana, one small apple, and 1 cup vanilla ice cream
Day Two (1,200 calories)
Breakfast: one slice of toast, half of a banana, and one cooked egg
Lunch: 1 cup cottage cheese, one hard-boiled egg, and five saltine crackers
Dinner: two (bunless) hot dogs, 1 cup broccoli, half of a banana and 1 cup of vanilla ice cream
Day Three (1,100 calories)
Breakfast: one slice of cheddar cheese, one small apple, and five saltine crackers
Lunch: one slice of bread or toast and one cooked egg
Dinner: 1 cup of tuna, half of a banana, and 1 cup vanilla ice cream
The question is, is it safe?
Of course it’s not safe; look at the list of food you’ll be eating, there are also processed foods with very low nutrients in the diet plan. However, your body can cope with this diet in the short term but you’ll suffer from nutrient deficiency and be at risk of serious cardiovascular diseases.
Also, it’s very likely you will gain back the weight that you’ve lost as the diet is not sustainable. If you are really serious about losing weight, try being in a calorie deficit and try more sustainable diets.
