Maximize your workouts with these foods

Good types of food provide our bodies with all the needed nutrition. Find out what you need to eat in order to maximize your workouts.

Carbohydrates

Carbs is one of the most important groups of food if you want to build stamina and endurance. It is responsible for regulating the blood sugar and glycogen levels in your muscles. This will prevent muscle fatigue. According to nutritionists, carbs are important for endurance workouts and you need to have it at least 30 to 60 minutes before exercising.

Protein

If you want to build muscle or even to repair your muscle, add more protein to your diet. If you’re doing medium to high-intensity training, opt for 20-30 percent of protein in total. Also, it’s necessary to choose lean protein like eggs, chicken and fish.

Fats

Ahh…you’ll be surprised if you think you don’t need fats in your diet. In order to lose weight, you need to consume healthy fats like avocado, nuts and seeds. If you’re into endurance sports, fats help your body absorb fat-soluble vitamins like A, D, E and K. However, make sure to only eat healthy fats!

Water

You cannot perform well if you’re not properly hydrated. It’s a known fact that water transports nutrients throughout your body but do you know that water also provides musculoskeletal lubrication. Your joints will become stiff and your body will be prone to injuries if you don’t drink enough water.

Also, as mentioned earlier in this article, make sure to time your meals carefully. Avoid eating too close to your workout time. Give your body some time for it to digest and absorb all the nutrients in the food.
