MDEC aims to penetrate eSports scene
The Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) are planning to enter the eSports scene by creating digital education content, as RM20 million has been allocated by the government for the industry’s development.
MDEC chief executive officer Surina Shukri told reporters at the Level Up KL 2019 media conference,”I see many games now where you’re able to interact and learn new content, whereby, to get to the next level, you have to answer chemistry questions.”
Surina added that there is a lot of potential for eSports development in Malaysia and they are actively exploring collaborations and partnerships.
Level Up KL 2019 also witnessed the signing between Singapore-based Esports Pro League (ESPL), a global eSports tournament platform with Malaysia’s Axis Esports Sdn Bhd (Axis), an eSports tournament organiser, to be the first country franchisee for the ESPL.
LEVEL UP KL is the biggest game festival in Malaysia which goal is to create a platform for gamers, public, game developers, corporate and eSports to leverage on the biggest entertainment market as key economic growth for the region.
