Luqman set to create history!
National Under-18 (U-18) striker, Luqman Hakim Shamsudin, is set to become the first Malaysian to play in the Belgian Pro League after signing a five-year deal with KV Kortrjik.
The 17-year-old will first be undergoing a three-month long training session with English Championship side Cardiff City FC in January next year before joining KV Kortrijk once he turns 18 in March 2020. Both Cardiff City FC and KV Kortrijk are owned by successful and renowned businessman, Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Vincent Tan.
“It’s a very good news for Malaysian football. However, it is all up to Luqman because he cannot give up.
“As Malaysians, we need to help out our own people. Whether he succeeds or not is completely up to Luqman. He is the first player to do this and I hope that other players will follow in Luqman’s footsteps,” said Vincent Tan during a press conference in Kuala Lumpur this morning.
Luqman is from the National Football Development programme and was named as the under-16 Asian Federation Cup top scorer last year despite only playing two games.
