Van Djik hails “World Class” Sturridge
Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has backed teammate Daniel Sturridge for an England recall.
Sturridge clinched a crucial point for his side with a last minute strike against Chelsea over the weekend.
It was the striker’s fourth goal of the season and it could not have come at a better time as England boss Gareth Southgate is set to name his squad for the upcoming Nations League double header with Croatia and Spain.
In regards to Sturridge’s possible inclusion in the England squad, van Dijk said, “Of course (he is good enough), come on. I don’t think there should be any doubt. But it’s all about the manager, he made the choices, but I know what he’s capable of, how good he can be and when he’s at his best, by playing against him and seeing him in training with the hard work that he puts in and the positivity that he brings as well.”
